Details

Constructed in 2001, Lapwing is an America class yacht built along the lines of the original Lapwing which appeared in the Blakes brochure in 1916. Back in those days these boats were supplied with a skipper and were known as small Wherries, they were the height of luxurious yachting on the Broads and with the classic counter stern Broads design that set it apart from the rest. Back to today and these yachts still offer the same luxurious yachting on the broads with more of the modern conveniences that you would expect but still with the same classic lines as yesteryear but now you’re the skipper.

With a glass fibre hull, mahogany brightwork and lovely softwood spars these yachts are the envy of the hire fleet. With a four burner gas hob, cooker and grill, small under counter fridge, flush toilet, shower and webasto diesel central heating these yachts are very well equipped.

These traditional yachts are ideally suited for family and group bookings with previous sailing experience. With a traditional gunter rig and genoa with Wykeham Martin furler this rig offers the best sailing experience whether you are out on the broads in open water or on the more sheltered river sections.

Lapwing offers an exhilarating sailing experience either in a good breeze or light airs, straight line speed is good, she sails close to the wind and tacks really well and accelerates keenly when coming about.

Please note that Lapwing is suitable for intermediate sailors, experience of sailing on rivers is required along with a minimum crew of 4.
