Boat Safety Examination

Nearly all boats used on our rivers are now required to prove to the local waterways authority that a Boat Safety Examination has been carried out.

This is similar to an MOT for cars, and a Boat Safety Certificate has to have been issued. These certificates are valid for 4 years before they are due to be re-tested.

Boat Safety Examiner

Boat safety scheme Here at Martham Boats we have our own qualified Boat Safety Examiner, who will either examine your boat at our riverside office, or if local, will carry out the inspection on site for you.

Boat Safety Scheme

The Boat Safety Scheme has a checklist of items which your boat will need to comply with, and if all items pass a Boat Safety Certificate will be issued. This Certificate will need to be forwarded to the local water authority so that a river licence (Toll) can be issued.

In the event of a Boat Safety failure, and remedial works need to be carried out, our Examiner will advise you on the best course of action, your boat will then be re-tested and if all the items comply, a Certificate will be issued.

For further information, or to book a Boat Safety Examination, please give us a call at the office where our friendly team will be happy to help you.
